About

My relationship with painting is complicated. Like any, it’s a constant work in progress. It’s uncomfortable, tedious at times, and filled with feelings of outright cluelessness. But that discomfort is what makes the process so rewarding, and it is what has kept me fascinated for so many years. Through a constantly evolving process using brushes, palette knives, squeegees, and other tools, I piece together my subjects one fragment at a time.

I am drawn to the subject matter in my work for various reasons. Sometimes it might have a particularly strong composition and design quality, sometimes it’s the mood and color, and sometimes it’s intangible and the work becomes about discovery. My aim is to arrange each element, stroke, and clunky decision in harmony with the hope that the viewer might find as much beauty in the experience as I do.
